The worst performers of the session were Sims Metal Management Ltd (ASX:), which fell 8.82% or 0.890 points to trade at 9.200 at the close. Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:) declined 3.81% or 0.045 points to end at 1.135 and Cleanaway Waste Management Ltd (ASX:) was down 3.78% or 0.070 points to 1.780.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 580 to 566 and 366 ended unchanged.

AUD/USD was down 0.10% to 0.6815, while AUD/JPY rose 0.05% to 74.09.
