The best performers of the session on the were Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:), which rose 13.66% or 0.140 points to trade at 1.165 at the close. Meanwhile, Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:) added 8.48% or 2.230 points to end at 28.530 and Saracen Mineral Holdings Ltd (ASX:) was up 5.10% or 0.180 points to 3.710 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Galaxy Resources Ltd (ASX:), which fell 7.10% or 0.065 points to trade at 0.850 at the close. Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:) declined 6.06% or 1.820 points to end at 28.190 and Mayne Pharma Group Ltd (ASX:) was down 4.35% or 0.025 points to 0.550.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 632 to 489 and 307 ended unchanged.

Shares in Galaxy Resources Ltd (ASX:) fell to 3-years lows; falling 7.10% or 0.065 to 0.850.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.61% to 12.591 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 6.05 to $1493.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.57% or 0.31 to hit $54.17 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.18 to trade at $59.52 a barrel.

AUD/USD was down 0.23% to 0.6839, while AUD/JPY fell 0.34% to 74.11.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.303.
